payabl. runs offices in London, Limassol, Vilnius, Frankfurt and Amsterdam. Most of the year, the team collaborates across multiple time zones and over video calls. Twice a year, in summer and winter, everyone flies to Cyprus for a full week of work, team bonding, and one big party.
We asked people from across departments and offices at the summer party what that week means to them, and what makes it fun for them. Ori, based in London in the Compliance team, frames it perfectly: “payabl. brings everybody from all of the offices and locations into Cyprus for an entire week to work together for some team bonding, and the highlight — the payabl. party.”
Putting faces to familiar names
For a company spread across five countries, a week in the Cyprus heat brings online familiarity in-person. Michal, based remotely in Poland and working in the marketing team, works remotely with nearly every office payabl. has. "I have friends in Lithuania, Cyprus, Germany, all over the place," he says. "This is my third or fourth party. And it's always a blast."
Carole, based in Limassol in the Business Growth team, says, “It's not just putting faces to names. It's about reconnecting and celebrating what we've built together as a team.” Martynas, part of the marketing team for close to three years, feels the same pull. "The most exciting part is seeing people in person," he says.
Emil, based in Frankfurt in the Product team, rounds it off. "I work mostly with the Cyprus office, and some of them I've never met face-to-face. It's a great opportunity to finally celebrate together."
Bringing the energy to the room
Carole puts it simply: "nothing beats the energy when you see all those people together in one room."
It's a sentiment shared across offices. Marcin, who works fully remote from Krakow in the Data team, sees the week as a rare occasion: "It gives you this opportunity to feel like it's personal while it's actually work."
And for first-timers, the anticipation of seeing people for the first time builds fast. Robertas, joining from Vilnius in the Fraud team, is attending his first summer party: "Coming to the company party for the first time here in Cyprus is really exciting. I hear payabl. throws really nice parties."
From meeting rooms to the dance floor
Every payabl. summer party has its signature moment. For Martynas, joining from Vilnius, it's predictable in the best way: "There's always a moment where all the marketing people hit the dance floor. As a dancing person, I love to see everyone dancing. Don't get me wrong — we all don't really know how to dance but it's still a lot of fun."
That looseness matters to the team. Michal frames it well: "People work very, very hard. But they know how to relax, how to do team-building activities. It's the best of both worlds."
Marcin also expands on the chance to mix work and play: “Coming to Cyprus for the summer party gives you this rare opportunity to feel like it's on vacation while it's actually work.”
What brings the fun to the week
Ask the payabl. team what it means to be at a payabl. party and you get a consistent answer. It's the people, not the food or venue.
Delia, who’s based in Limassol in the Business Growth team, put it most directly: "What makes it fun is the people within." The mix of cultures, backgrounds, and working styles creates something distinct.
Carole described it best: "Different people bring so much energy every day. It's super fun to work with all of them." Kateryna agrees: “The mixture of cultures and different people brings so much energy to the party. It's super fun to cooperate with all of them.”
Delivering more than a party
The week in Cyprus sits inside a broader pattern at payabl.: a company that treats team culture as a working principle. The work continues and the relationships deepen throughout the week. And the next week, the team is back at it, working together across every office and time zone, a little more connected than before.
