3DS1 is being discontinued - all you need to know.

This security feature is essential to stay compliant with regulations such as the Payment Services Directive (PSD2) which governs electronic payments within Europe to ensure online transactions are properly authenticated and secure.

What does this mean for your business?

You do not need to take any action. 3-D Secure 1.0.2 has been replaced with EMV 3-D Secure, so all support efforts from Visa and Mastercard are now directed only towards EMV 3-D Secure. This means that if a payment is attempted using the old authentication technology of 3-D Secure 1.0.2 then the payment will fail. payabl. supports and successfully uses EMV 3DS (version 2) and from now on transactions will be verified with the new version and transactions will be sent to the Card Scheme servers on your behalf automatically.
